ATECO's D-Series double seal enhances the concept of compression plate secondary sealing in a single unit that combines the characteristics of primary and secondary seals. Starting with a new tank, the gasket can be fitted to the roof rim plate as required with most other gaskets without extensive welding or joint welding. The double seal is mounted on the rim plate projection only. In retrofit applications, the double seal securely engages the remaining clips and fasteners previously welded to the roof flap plates, most of which are left behind by the primary seals. This minimizes stripping work when raising the gaskets. Description The D-Series double seal applies compression plate technology to both primary and secondary seal elements. The construction is as shown back-to-back and it should be noted that an option is available using a double seal and a flexible membrane layer. Shell contact is made with an extruded polymer tip attached to the upper edge of the secondary sealing elements and the lower edge of the primary sealing elements. The polymer will be chosen to meet the requirements of specific applications and withstand abrasion from the tank shell and weathering attack. Also suitable for use in MTBE service. The lower, primary element seal tip is normally just above the stored liquid level. For highly volatile products such as gasoline or hazardous materials such as benzene, it is recommended to add an opaque layer that attaches to the lower seal end and is discharged into the weighted, stored liquid. This can be caused by protruding welds, severe wear of the shell plates, etc. Due to this, it has the effect of increasing the sealing efficiency in areas where the shell contact is less than perfect at the seal end. Regulatory compliance ATECO Tank Engineering seals meet or exceed the allowable clearance requirements set by government and regulatory agencies in the universe. This design will demonstrate superior sealing ability throughout the roof travel; Roof shear, roundness, buckling, and the expansion and contraction requirement of each tank. Warranty ATECO TANK warrants its seals to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of two years. Any express or implied warranties
