How Radiators Work

The work of a radiator is to move heat away from the engine or other part of a vehicle and into the surrounding atmosphere. This is done by passing hot air through a small opening in the radiator called an "inlet" and then sending cold air out the "outlet." The colder air will be less conductive than the hot air, meaning it will be able to travel more easily around the object it's trying to reach.

In order for this hot air to reach its destination safely, it needs to pass through two things: an "exhaust" pipe and a "filter." The exhaust pipe is where the hot air leaves the radiator and goes into the environment; however, it also contains elements that could potentially cause fire or harm to nearby objects if not properly sealed off. The filter is a piece of equipment that sits between your car's engine and your radiator and helps remove particles from the atmosphere that might be causing problems for your engine or radiator.
